About my area

I live in a village halfway between Richelieu and Châtellerault (or on a larger scale, roughly halfway between Tours and Poitiers). Here, we have the convenience of all basic amenities within walking distance, but also a park, fishing pond, and paths through beautiful woods with no houses in sight within 5 minutes. The fields around here mainly produce wheat, corn, and (my favourite) sunflowers! Our local town of Châtellerault is where we go for bigger shops and most official dealings. It’s right on the Vienne and since I have lived here, there’s been a huge drive to regenerate the town and it’s really paid off - we’ve already gained a new cinema complex and skate park, and many historical buildings have been sympathetically restored to their former glory.

About me

I moved to France with my then 5-year-old daughter at the beginning of 2006, and my partner, Dale, joined us just over 5 years later, setting up his own classic car restoration business in one of our outbuildings. Finding work proved harder than I had imagined, so I initially took on a series of part-time temporary jobs and focused on improving my French, considering a decent grasp of the language to be a key skill, no matter what route I ended up taking here. I finally secured a permanent position working with a fabulous association set up to help combat illiteracy. Several years later, with my daughter grown up and fending for herself, I decided it was yet again time for a change, and I joined Leggett Immobilier, seeing it as the perfect opportunity to combine my love of houses and human contact with all the local knowledge I have gained over the past 15+ years.
