About my area

The Vendée is situated in West Central France adjoining the Atlantic Ocean. In a 2006 survey it was cited as the most economically dynamic department in France by L'Express Magazine. It is crossed by four rivers, the Sèvre Nantaise, the Vendée, the Lay and the Sèvre Noirtaise. It is well known for its historic medieval castles and its some 140 kms of beautiful white sandy beaches. It can boast up to 2500 hours of sunshine each year making it a popular holiday and relocation destination.

About me

I have lived in France now for 10 years, having left the UK following major heart surgery for my husband. We have bought and renovated several properties which we currently rent out. We also operated a brocante and builders' merchants, supplying materials imported from the UK which were difficult to find here in France. Living in the heart of the Vendée, with its temparate climate, we are surrounded by historical landmarks and wonderful rolling countryside. We found no difficulty in settling into local life and have many french friends.
