You find the house on the very attractive village square, opposite the newly restored church and highly rated auberge.

You enter directly into the spacious 39m2, cozy family lounge, which features a modern wood-burner and hearth, plus a beautifully crafted oak stairway, double aspect windows to the north and east, and rustic tiled floors.

The light and bright 34m2 kitchen is off to the rear, it has lots of workspace and features a modern range gas cooker. There's access to the barn and the covered terrace.

There's also a small office/single bedroom and adjoining bathroom with a toilet, on the ground floor.

The 35m2 south facing terrace is perfect for your aperò or alfresco dining in the long summers, with the lawned garden beyond. The rear double gates lead to a driveway and a 25m2 beautiful wooden garage, with sufficient parking for up to three cars.

The 66m2 barn is incorporated into the main house. It's currently used for storage but could easily be converted into further living accommodation. This would be particularly useful if you wanted to create a bed and breakfast, as it has its own staircase up to the landing, leading to three newly converted large double bedrooms. It would allow the main part of the house to stay separate from the guest rooms.

On the first floor you find all the original bedrooms to the left There's one 21m2 double at the front of the house and the other double of 18.5m2 at the back. Two single rooms, both 8.5m2 sit between them. They share a shower room with toilet.

To the right of the main staircase, and through a double bedroom/office, you step up to a newly converted first floor extension, accommodating three very large bedrooms, (24, 17 and 16m2) with stone or pine-panelled walls and sky light windows. They currently share a toilet, with space in the corridor to build a further bathroom, or two shower rooms. The stairs down to the barn are found in the front bedroom.

The local Chateau is a popular tourist attraction, and hosts a music festival for one weekend a year. There are also 3 village fetes in the summer, remember in the 'transhumance' and traditional farming methods of the region. The Gave d'Oloron runs passed the village and is celebrated for salmon and trout fishing,

From the garden and rear of the house you can see the Pyrenees mountains. There are many outdoor pursuits and places to visit on a day out hiking. There are seven ski resorts within a two hour drive, the nearest, Pierre St Martin, is around an hours drive. The there's the local produce, especially the sheep-milk cheese and hot peppers used in the cooking that you will discover at the farm shops along the routes,

Béarn is famous for its local country traditions, and you can find lots of farms that haven't changed much in generations. The rivers are beautiful and you can swim in a lot of them. The hills and mountains are picturesque, and you will most certainly be inspired by their beauty.

A little further afield, about an hour on the A64 highway, you will find the very beautiful city of Pau to the east and Bayonne and Biarritz to the west, along with the border to northern Spain. You can spend a lifetime discovering their local traditions, fetes, produce and customs.

You also have the golden beaches of Les Landes and the French and Spanish Basque Country within striking distance for days trips or weekends away. There's over 250 kms of coast, plus inland lakes which cater for every kind of water sport and boating you can imagine.

If you don't know the region, you should come and visit, and fall in love with it, like many have before, and will again. We hope to see you here soon.
