You enter this stunning house into the bright and spacious lounge, impeccably decorated and featuring an original fireplace with a pellet burner, recessed cupboards and a solid pine floor with under floor heating. The staircase leads up from the lounge to the first floor, with accessible facilities.
The kitchen is at the back of the house, and has modern units, and appliances, with a very beautiful travertine floor, exposed oak pillars and underfloor heating. There is a small utility room neatly tucked in under the stairs. The building was previously a bakery and the owners have restored a cast iron dough mixer, and incorporated some utensils into the decor.
The first floor has ancient oak floorboards throughout the landing, and bedrooms, immaculately restored, giving a rich and warm feeling of comfort and style.
There are two very large bedrooms, one front and one back, with a third guest bedroom which could also be used as a home office. All are beautifully decorated and ready to occupy with little or no work.
The attic covers the entire second floor, and some plumbing and electrics have been added for future connection, should you wish to extend the property further, into this space.
Houses renovated to this standard rarely come to the market here. It's a very stylish and comfortable home, which would be easy to lock up and leave, as a holiday home.
The old city is very quaint, not too busy, but has a few restaurants, bars and a market on Saturdays. The Gave d'Oloron runs south of the medieval bastilles for salmon and trout fishing, and bathing, canoeing, rafting and other outdoor pursuits in very easy reach. The Fetes de Blonde and other fetes are well organised and attended, and there's always something to do nearby.
The town is ideally situated to explore Bèarn, the Pyrenees mountains, including a number of ski resorts within one hours drive from the door, and the Basque Country with its magnificent coastal towns and beaches, a surfers paradise.
