About my area

My area in Charente-Maritime includes La Rochelle, and the islands, the Ile de Ré and Ile d’Oléron. This is an area of outstanding natural beauty with a strong sense of history. The sandy beaches and coastal villages of the islands - both famous for their oysters - are glorious all year round. La Rochelle, where I live, is a beautiful town, steeped in history, with centuries-old architecture. The many bars and restaurants, the picturesque harbour and market, the parks and the sea, all make for a vibrant, desirable town to live in. La Rochelle airport has flights to Stansted, Dublin and Gatwick, with more destinations in the summer, and Paris is just 2.5 hours by train. Not forgetting that Charente-Maritime is the second sunniest part of France, and I would highly recommend it for your property search.

About me

I commuted from Brighton to London for 15 years for my work as a ballet pianist at the Royal Ballet School. After having twins, I no longer wanted to commute, and felt in need of a drastic lifestyle change. We bought a property here on a week’s holiday 16 years ago, and shortly after we decided to switch Brighton for Charente-Maritime permanently. Only then did we begin to discover what an amazing place we would be living in. Houses are an absolute passion for me and, having started working for Leggett, I wish that I had begun years ago.
