"Montpezat-de-Quercy, a bastide town in the Quercy Blanc region, has a typical character, with its central covered square and half-timbered houses. This charming village had a glorious past, with the illustrious des Prés family endowing the village with remarkable features. Indeed, it was Cardinal Pierre des Prés who, in the 14th century, built the beautiful Southern Gothic collegiate church of Saint-Martin. Two centuries later, on the initiative of Jean IV des Prés, then Bishop of Montauban, tapestries depicting the life of Saint Martin were specially made for the choir of the collegiate church. This marvellous series of Flemish tapestries is in excellent condition and is much admired by lovers of antique tapestries.
