About me

We bought our village home in April 2019 and it had always been our dream to eventually settle down in France in retirement. Then the situation changed for us in the UK and we took the plunge to move here permanently in October 2020. It was all very scary at first but now we wouldn't change it for the world. About my area

On the banks of where the Gélise and Baïse rivers meet sits the village of Barbaste with its famous Moulin de Tour and the roman bridge. A beautiful part of South West France, 3 miles from Nérac, 25 minutes from Agen, and well-served by Bordeaux, Bergerac and Toulouse airports about 1.5hrs away. I love the slower pace of life, the amazing choice and flavour of fresh produce, the excellent local wine, the kindness of our neighbours but most of all, the beauty to be found on every corner. I have never taken so many photographs in my life! I knew I needed to do something to keep me occupied and when the opportunity to work with Leggett came up, I took it. I love meeting new people and it has really helped me with my French and I'm ready to help you find your little piece of heaven, just like I did. close

For those who prefer something more leisurely, there are antique markets (brocantes) to potter through, as well as summer evening markets and the many festivals that mark the months, starting in February with the truffle festival. There are three regular markets a week in the next village and Nerac and the oyster man turns up from Bordeaux every Sunday morning to set up his stall on the little village square. A good life awaits you here. close
