History
The château was built for Jacques Cartault, lawyer and member of the Archaeological Society of Tarn-and-Garonne in 1894. Cartault had inherited from his father a collection of fine furniture and paintings which he developed and installed in his château de Luchon The castle welcomed prestigious guests and “The twenty-one days of a neurasthenic” were written by Octave Mirbeau in 1901 after a stay in Luchon at the chateau. There is documentation of the castle having been rented out for the cure season but also during the winter sports season from as early as 1938.

Recently restored back to its former glory, the chateau boasts 443M2 of living space over 4 floors.

The gated driveway leads to the chateau perched on the hillside overlooking the valley.

First Floor:
Stone steps lead to a grand entrance hall on the first floor which features stained glass windows a fireplace now used as an entrance to rooms to the back of the property, a stone curved masonry staircase leads to the upper floors and the first of many intricately hand painted original ceilings in beautiful condition.

The halls takes us to the grand salon with its paneled walls and wooden floors, high painted ceilings and doors which lead to a terrace overlooking the uninterrupted mountain views. Just off the salon is a “secret tower room” used as a library/bureau. We then continue on to a dining room with a wood burning stove, another stunning painted ceiling.
There is a large food serving area behind the dining room.

Ground floor: Stairs lead down to the ground floor where a bright fitted kitchen with dining area has been installed. Just off the kitchen is a wine tasting area, several store rooms, electrical room, boiler room, Shower room, Separate 2 Separate WC’s and a Mud room.
Although not commercially let at the moment, they could generate significant income due to the unique nature of their environment.

2nd Floor; A hallways leads to, bathroom with shower and WC, T/cinema room, games room, shower room and 5 bedrooms.

3rd Floor; A hallway leads to shower room, 1 separate WC, 4 bedrooms.

4th Floor; 2 attic rooms

The chateau is packed with original features including stunning carpentry, painted walls and ceilings, decorative fireplaces.

The outside space round the chateau is flat and terraced with a car shelter, outside storage room and garden hut. The woodland to the rear is owned by the chateau. Access is given to a manor house further up the hill and to a small villa bordering the road.
