Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët is at the frontier of the three provinces of Normandy, Brittany and Pays de la Loire. Its historic buildings of interest include a medieval church tower with frescos and a 14th century monastery. Much of the town of Saint-Hilaire was destroyed by bombing in the Second World War which has led to it otherwise having a more modern feel, as it was redesigned when it was rebuilt. It has an arboretum near the Priory Lake which has pleasant walks and where you can play mini-golf in Summer. For relaxation, there is also the modern Spadium swimming pool complex which includes a sauna and a jacuzzi.

St.Hilaire du Harcouët has a large bustling market every Wednesday. A major event there is the annual Saint-Martin's Fair which is held in early November every year, lasting four days and attracting 150,000 visitors.

The property is just over an hour’s drive from the nearest ferry port at St Malo and
is about an hour and a half’s drive to the ferry port at Caen Ouistreham. It is also only about an hour’s drive from the international airport at Rennes.
