This spacious village house of 150m² has been beautifully renovated, incorporating modern fixtures and fittings with the property’s many original features. The ground floor has underfloor heating and comprises an entrance hall, an open-plan sitting room/dining room a wood-burning stove n the fireplace, an adjacent kitchen area, a utility room, a shower room and a WC.

On the first floor there are three bedrooms: 16.3m², 14.5m² and 8.6 m². A fourth room of 24.5m² is currently being used as a second sitting room, but could be transformed into two good-size bedrooms or one very large bedroom, perhaps with an en suite shower room. Also on this floor is a family bathroom and a WC.

On the second floor, there is a huge loft of 80m² with a high ceiling, which could be used as a games room/art studio/holiday apartment, or there is ample space for two bedrooms, which could be used for B&B guests. Plumbing is already in place for a bathroom and a WC.

The property does not have a garden, but there is a pretty paved courtyard and a parking space in front of the house. The adjoining barn, with three levels each of about 20m2, could be converted into a small gîte.

Situated at an altitude of 900 metres and with fabulous panoramic mountain views, Lescun is very popular with tourists all year round. There are shops and bars in the village, but for larger supermarkets, the Medieval market town of Oloron-Ste-Marie is 35km away and the historic city of Pau is 65km away. The nearest ski resort is at Candanchú on the Spain border, which is just a 30-minute drive away (25km); the closest French ski resort is at La Pierre St Martin, which is about 30 km away. Biarritz and the Atlantic beach resorts are 140km away. There are airts at Pau, Tarbes-Lourdes and Biarritz.

The GR10 or “Pyrenean Way” passes through the village and the famous "Cirque de Lescun", which is classed as a natural heritage site, is about an hour’s walk from the village. The Pic d'Anie can be seen from the village, as can several other mountain summits. There are also mountain lakes nearby, such as Lake Ansabère.

Film buffs might be interested to know that several of the picturesque villages of the Vallée d’Aspe and the town of Oloron-Ste-Marie have recently been used as film locations, most notably for two French films starring the Oscar winner, Jean Dujardin, and an English film, "Waiting for Anya" based on the Michael Morpurgo book set in France in the Second World War, some of which drew from wartime experiences in Lescun. Not only is the stunning, unspoilt countryside of the Béarn perfect for filmmakers, but enthusiastic locals are often encouraged to volunteer as extras to appear alongside the international film stars - next time, that could be you!
