This spacious 6 bedroom former post house is within the walls of historic Richelieu. A wonderful family home for many years, it has bags of character, offers over 280m2 of living space, and is crying out to be updated and renovated.

Entering into the spacious hallway (16m2) with staircase in front of you, the living room is to the right (40m2) with two large arched windows and fireplace. To the rear, the dining room (18m2) has patio doors and a window to the courtyard. Off the dining room is a shower room with WC (5m2). Back in the hall to the side of staircase, is a hallway with door to the dining room, a door below the staircase which leads to a small cellar and a pantry (5m2). Continuing through is the kitchen (14m2) with doorway out to the courtyard (50m2).

There is a store room and outside toilet to the left of the courtyard and to the rear, large wooden gates which lead you through to the boiler room (11m2), an office (31m2) with fireplace and the enclosed garden (160m2).

From the office, a staircase leads to the first floor. Off a landing are two bedrooms (11m2 and 18m2) with shower room (7m2) in between all with windows over the garden. Continuing through to bedroom 3 (11m2) and bedroom 4 (15m2) which have windows to the courtyard. There is a dressing room (6m2) with window between these bedrooms. Bedroom 4 has a shower room space (7m2). From bedroom 4 is a large landing (15m2) with window over the courtyard off which, to the right is a toilet (1m2). From this landing, a door takes you up to the attic space. There is a second landing (12m2) to the front of the property off with double doors to a Juliette balcony. To the right is bedroom 5 (20m2) with a room with hand basin and bidet (2m2) attached and windows to the front. Bedroom 6 (15m2) is to the left with windows to the front. A door leads through to a dressing room (7m2) and door back to the landing and bathroom (13m2).

Outside, to the left of the front door is a garage (Xm2) which has a store room at the rear and additional loft space above.

Richelieu, the historic walled town was built for the infamous Cardinal, made famous by Alexandre Dumas in his novel about the Three Musketeers. While the Cardinal’s chateau no longer exists, the beautiful park and some of the original buildings remain. Easily accessible from the UK -TGV Paris to Tours 55 minutes; Regular low cost flights to Tours and Poitiers; A85/A10 motorways allow access to the ferry port of Caen in 3 hours. For those planning to run a business the area is very attractive to tourists given the proximity to the Loire Valley chateaux and wineries.
