If you haven’t yet found your dream home, why not buy some building land and build your perfect property? You can create a super family home, a holiday home or even offer B&B to passing pilgrims! The plot is on the outskirts of a pretty Béarnaise village, five minutes away from the riverside market town of Oloron-Ste-Marie, about 50 minutes away from Pyrenean ski resorts and 90 minutes away from Atlantic beach resorts. Ideal! Read more ...

Situated on a south-facing hillside in village of Goès, this plot of building land of 1006m² with water, town gas, electricity, telephone and mains drains all ready to connect, has permission for the construction of a house with a floor area of up to 402m². Smart new houses have already been constructed to the west of the land and the one neighbouring house can easily be screened off by clever planting. To the east and the north, the plot borders woodland and there are woodland views to the south. Visit quickly!

The lovely village of Goès is close to Pyrenean ski resorts to the south and Atlantic coastal resorts to the west. The nearby town of Oloron-Ste-Marie has many excellent amenities and there are regular buses and trains to the surrounding towns and villages and to the city of Pau. There is also a long-distance bus service (Flixbus) to Bordeaux, Toulouse, Spain and other European destinations. Oloron-Ste-Marie is known for its two cathedrals and the picturesque panoramic views from the Medieval hilltop area of the town. Local fêtes, markets and outdoor entertainments often take place in the attractive public park and the two rivers flowing through the town offer ample opportunities for fishing and water sports.

Goès is in the Béarn, one of the ancient French provinces in the south-western Pyrénées. It is close to the Spanish border, Pau, Lourdes, the picturesque Basque Country and the Atlantic coast. Toulouse, Bordeaux, San Sebastián and Bilbao are all within easy reach.

Popular with tourists all the year round for hiking, mountain-biking, white-water rafting and fishing, the Béarn also offers a range of winter sports (downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing), with easy access to numerous ski stations. For those preferring beach-based activities (especially surfing) the famous resorts of the Atlantic coast are just an hour and a half away (Biarritz, Saint Jean de Luz, Hendaye, Hossegor...)

The Mairie and salle de fêtes in Goès are a short walk or cycle ride away – and the local shops, restaurants and pretty riverside walks in Oloron-Ste-Marie are just five minutes away. The town has recently been officially classified by the French government as a “ville active et sportive” and has many sporting facilities and cycle routes. There is also a free shuttle bus service. Despite its relatively small size (population 10,000), Oloron offers an unusual number of cultural events and activities, both amateur and professional and its excellent modern médiathèque overlooks the river where the Gave d’Ossau and the Gave d’Aspe join to become the Gave d’Oloron.

Film buffs might be interested to know that the town and several picturesque villages in the Vallée d’Aspe have recently been chosen as film locations, most notably for two French films ("Le Daim" and "I Feel Good") starring the Oscar winner, Jean Dujardin, and an English film, "Waiting for Anya" based on the Michael Morpurgo book set in France in the Second World War. Not only is the stunning, unspoilt countryside of the Béarn perfect for filmmakers, but enthusiastic locals are often encouraged to volunteer as extras to appear alongside the international film stars - next time, that could be you!
