The mountain biking in this area is outstanding with miles of single track winding through the mountains. The Durance river basin is the primary destination in Europe for kayaking and other white water activities. The ski resorts of Les Orres, Vars and Risoul are excellent, and less well known, and less busy than those further north. Smaller intimate stations like Crevoux and Reallon provide great days out. And then there is the lake, Serre Poncon, one of the largest in Western Europe, and only 15 minutes drive from four ski resorts, there are few places where you have a ski resort and a lake in such close proximity.
