About my area

Located in South Vienne at the border of Charente and Deux Sèvres, halfway between Poitiers and Angoulême with their airports only 50km away, this part of France offers all you require. From bars, restaurants, supermarkets, banks, cinema etc... Limoges airport is less than 90km away so also very handy for family & friends visiting from the UK and further afield. By car, the sea is only just over 1 hour away and the ski slopes are around 3 hours away. With its mild winters and warm (not too hot!) summers, it’s to me the best place to be in France. There is plenty to do around here all year round such as La Vallée des Singes, Le Vieux Cormenier, Le Parc de la Belle, Le Labirynthe Végétal and le Futuroscope to name a few popular touristic sites and for the lovers of great outdoors there are some great walks to do and cycle routes. You can also have a go at canoes and kayaks or paddleboards whatever takes your fancy. And if you’re into antiques, there are regularly car boot sales here and in other surrounding towns and villages. So as you can see here there’s something for everyone!

About me

I’m French born and studied Transport and Logistics in France before emigrating to Scotland where I spent 22 years working mainly for the oil industry. When we started looking for a holiday home that would become eventually our main residence, western France came at the top of the list. Poitou-Charentes, I think offers the best climate in France, so this is where we set our hearts to. In 2016 we bought our French property in Civray, which we renovated over 2 years and last year a turn of event made us make the move once for all. It’s been a wonderful year where we have been able to spend more than half of it leaving outside and growing our own vegs. I’ve now done full circle and feel that this is what life should be like… Bliss!
