About me

I am a Kenyan Dane, raised in East Africa and my Swedish husband (also raised in Kenya) and I decided to move to the Languedoc-Rousillion, in 2019. We managed to buy a beautiful property and another to renovate keeping us busy during the covid years. We run our first property as a Gite now. About my area

I live in the Minervois only 20 minute's drive north-east of Carcassonne and the medieval city, La Cite. The striking Black Mountains with its rivers, streams, and lakes, define the northern side of this area and the Carcassonne plain below rises up to the Corbieres mountain range in the south. This is a vast area that never disappoints, with its history, beauty, wilderness and bountiful natural produce. We decided that we could be happy here and not hanker after our old life in Kenya. We live in the Minervois wine region in a quintessentially French working village in the foothills of the Black Mountains. There is a seasonal river running through it attracting multitudes of birds and their song. Pine forests, vast open fields, vineyards, deep valleys and grottos to explore are right on our doorstep. A seemingly endless choice of hiking and biking opportunities, keep us busy when I am not prospecting or helping clients find their dream home. close

This is an area abundant in wildlife, birdlife, hiking and biking opportunities. Local artisanal produce and markets provide a vast choice of culinary delights. There are wine tasting tours traversing the stunning countryside often concluding in one of the canal side restaurants . Day cruises on the Canal du Midi, kayaking and canoeing, charming Chateau accommodation, quaint medieval villages are all easily accessible. There is something for everyone. Excursions to markets, fetes, Brocantes, galleries and other artistic enterprises would keep you busy each day of the week. The climate provides mild winters and hot summers, each season is around 3 months long. Visits in spring and autumn are equally rewarding as summertime. Carcassonne international airport offers easy access from the UK, Ireland and several other European cities. Toulouse, Beziers, Narbonne and Perpignan are all within easy reach for a day out exploring this part of France. close
