After working as a senior clinical advisor at the Department of Health, and then in the private sector
in the UK, I made the move to Sarrancolin in search of the French way of life. Five years on, a French
wedding, several house purchases, and renovations later, and I am still in love this region. The beauty,

Nestled in the heart of the Pyrenees mountains, just 20 minutes from the Spanish boarder you will
find me in Sarrancolin, surrounded by mountain tops, rivers and glacial lakes. Sarrancolin is a medieval
village with the river Neste running through its heart. It is where the café, the boulangerie and the

wedding, several house purchases, and renovations later, and I am still in love this region. The beauty,
culture and activities that it has to offer. As a keen cyclist, I still pinch myself every time I get to cycle
the famous cols that I now call home. I spend my Summers in cycling shorts and my Winters in my ski
jacket. Property and renovation have always been one of my passions. When friends saw what I had
achieved with my properties, they wanted to do the same. After helping several friends find and

Nestled in the heart of the Pyrenees mountains, just 20 minutes from the Spanish boarder you will
find me in Sarrancolin, surrounded by mountain tops, rivers and glacial lakes. Sarrancolin is a medieval
village with the river Neste running through its heart. It is where the café, the boulangerie and the
butchers are part of everyday village life. The distinct seasons are one of the most appealing aspects
of life in the region. During the summer months temperatures rise into the mid to late 30’s, whilst in
the Winter temperatures plumet and the snow arrives. Lots of walkers, rock climbers and cavers come
here to discover what the mountains and lakes have to offer. The Tour De France arrives in the
Pyrenees almost every year. A spectacle which must be experienced by cyclists of any level. The Col
du Aspen and the world famous Col Du Tourmalet are just two of my local road routes, accessible
straight from my doorstep in Sarrancolin. This area is covered in vast forests, filled with mountain bike
tracks, making this a gravel and MTB paradise. During the winter, we have eight different ski resorts
to choose from. The Pyrenees ski resorts are not as commercial as the Alpes, which is reflected in the
prices of both the lift passes, entertainment, and the property prices. Prices are increasing here
sharply as our secret hideaway becomes more well known. As hunting season in the mountains
finishes, fishing season starts in early spring. We have cannoning, rafting and canyoning on the rivers
as the snow melts away and the rivers fill up with white water. We have a wide range of properties to
suit all tastes. There are quiet mountain lodge retreats, town houses in the centre of the action,
country houses on the outskirts of villages and villas with swimming pools in acres of land. Whatever
your idea of a dream house, you can find it in this region. Missing the beach? Fear not, within 2 hours
you can be surfing in Biarritz or strolling the sands in San Sebastian. It is easy to get here, with
Tarbes/Lourdes being our local airport only 45 minutes away. We have low-cost budget flights from
the UK into Toulouse International Airport, only an hour away. You can always let the train take the
strain and catch the Eurostar and fast trains to our local train station in Lannemezan. This really is the
place to be in France if you want it all. Why drive to the action when you can choose to live in the
heart of it. close
