In my part of the Provence, the so called Luberon, you'll see characteristic lavender fields, rolling vineyards, high mountains, lovely valleys, abundant cherry blossoms in the many orchards and not to forget the beautiful orange/red colours of the famous ochre quarries around Roussillon and Rustrel. Since Roman times, towns and villages have developed into beautiful vivid places which in other parts of the world would be nowadays a museum. The beauty of France is, that history is for sale and it can be yours: it is not uncommon to buy a property with Roman caves or to have your own medieval well, -bread oven or -basin. The blend of deep anchored traditions and modern comfort like high-speed internet, TGV-trains and airports, together with an average of 3000 hours of sunshine per year, make it an excellent region where people from all over the world, me included, live a very happy life.
Dutch of origin, I travelled the world for decades for multinationals in the food industry and therefore I came to live in Paris in 1996. In 2002 a head-hunter had a job for me in Provence, which I discovered as the best part in the world. Recently I bought my 2nd and 3rd renovation project in the village and used local builders and craftsmen. I love my tiny sweet village with its unique blend of very nice local and international people, where I often feel as if I'm living in a book of Peter Mayle or in a story of Asterix & Obelix. In springtime I entertain international bird walks in my backyard, the beautiful Colorado of Rustrel, and I show my art-photography in my little gallery where you are most welcome to chat about birds, photography, life or properties.
