About my area

My husband and I purchased a beautiful old watermill in Poitou-Charentes in 2013, initially as a holiday home while we were both still working in the UK. We quickly fell in love with the house, the area and the French way of life, and eventually decided to make France our permanent home.

Before moving into property sales I worked for various magazines and newspapers in the UK, including several years as a Court and Social Reporter for The Times, but I had always fancied becoming an estate agent! Having bought, sold and renovated numerous houses over the years, working for Leggett Immobilier feels like the perfect fit. I love discovering beautiful properties, meeting interesting people and helping clients turn their dream of living in France into a reality. close

I am now based in the Pyrénées-Orientales, a wonderfully diverse department in the south of France, where the Mediterranean meets the Pyrenees. The landscape is spectacular, with vineyards, olive groves, traditional villages, mountain scenery and a beautiful coastline. The area enjoys a warm, sunny climate and offers a relaxed outdoor lifestyle throughout much of the year.

There is a strong sense of Catalan identity, along with a friendly and welcoming mix of French residents and people who have moved here from around the world. Local markets, festivals and cultural events bring the towns and villages to life, particularly during the summer months. Perpignan provides excellent shopping, restaurants and transport connections, while the Mediterranean coast offers sandy beaches, secluded coves and picturesque destinations such as Collioure, Port-Vendres and Banyuls-sur-Mer.

The Spanish border is also within easy reach, making day trips to explore northern Catalonia wonderfully simple. Whether you enjoy walking in the mountains, relaxing by the sea, discovering local wines and cuisine or visiting vibrant towns and villages, the Pyrénées-Orientales is a fantastic place to live. close
