Incredible as it may seem, this 3-bed chalet with a self-contained apartment, is so well insulated that it can be heated for as little as 120€ per year, the price of 1.5 steres of firewood. It requires very little heating which is just as well because it doesn’t have any central heating system. Nor does it have a heat pump or any solar panels. Instead, it has a Thermal mass wood burning stove, as shown in the 4th photo, which can be lit for 2 hours and store enough energy to heat the chalet for the next 24 hours.

With an official energy performance rating of C, which would be B, but for the vagaries of being over 800m altitude, you could be forgiven for thinking this house was averagely efficient.
