When people think of guaranteed snow, they think of Val d’Isère, and rightly so, for a number of reasons:

Altitude, of course, plays a key role. The higher you are, the more precipitation you get in the form of snow rather than rain, and the less pronounced the melting.

Being between 1,800m and over 3,000m also ensures the temperatures needed to produce artificial snow.

The Val d’Isère ski area is equipped with top-quality snow guns covering over 65km of runs. This means you can ski from early December to early May.

The diversity of slope exposures, particularly to the north, not only ensures optimum snow retention, but also consistently high snow quality.
Last but not least, our proximity to the Italian border means that we benefit from exceptional, highly localized snowfalls: the “retour d’Est” phenomenon.
