John Short Independent Agent, says :
This is an extraordinarily beautiful property. The Chateau lies in its own, private four hectare estate with beautifully presented grounds including a small lake. There are four separate guest accommodations and a large swimming pool.
The Chateau is approached through double gates to a gently climbing driveway. You pass the lake on the left and rise to an immense, open landscaped garden. The swimming pool lies discreetly to the left, about fifty metres from the principal house. The main house is quite breathtaking! It has gorgeous features, high ceilings, beautiful coving, ceiling roses and fabulous ornate fireplaces. The whole house is flooded with light, due to the numerous tall windows on all four sides! It has ten bedrooms (four ensuite), and further three bath/shower rooms. Below stairs, there's a great deal of cellar space, including the boiler room (central heating), atelier, bouanderie wine cellar and two other rooms for storage. On the ground floor, you'll discover a large entrée with exquisite tiled floors, big fitted kitchen, two huge salons, a lovely dining room and second 'cuisine arriere'.There's a cloakroom with w.c. at ground level too. A beautiful curved stairway leads to the first floor with four ensuite bedrooms, a fifth bedroom with w.c. and handbasin, another separate bathroom and w.c.. The second floor has a further five bedrooms, bathroom with bath, shower and w.c. There's an additional w.c. at the end of the landing. In the grounds, you'll find four guest accommodations (all in excellent order) totalling ten bedrooms, four kitchens, five bath/shower rooms. Each one of these is charming and will provide delightful accommodation for friends and guests. The swimming pool ihas a lovely surrounding terrace and is security fenced. The gardens have been lovingly cared for and include sweeping lawns, borders of mature trees with shaded and open areas. Simply the best property I've ever had in my portfolio. If you are in the fortunate position to be looking for a property at this budget, please view this one. It will immediately end your search.
The Dordogne is France's third largest department, and as well as numerous picturesque villages, it also boasts an incredible 4,000 chateaux, 10% of all the chateaux in France. Many people, including many expatriates, feel that the Dordogne is one of the most beautiful regions of France. The Dordogne has traditionally been one of the most popular department for foreign buyers, including many British, Irish and Dutch home owners. Like many French departments, the Dordogne is named after the river that flows through it. Foie gras, duck and goose are regional specialities. The department has four distinct territories. In the north you will find 'Green P?gord' which derives its name from its many green valleys and woodland, covered with trickling streams, and houses the P?gord-Limousin Regional Natural Park. The major towns in the area are Brantome (the "Venice" of the Dordogne), Nontron and Riberac. In the centre of the department is 'White P?gord', so called because of its limestone plateaux. It contains the capital of the Dordogne, P?gueux, with attractive shopping centre and marvellous winding old town. The 'Purple P?gord', in the South West of the department, is named from the area's grapes, which are put to good use in Bergerac, the capital of this wine producing region. The area was of great strategic significance during the hundred years war, and visitors will find a number of fortified villages, castles and chateaux built by both the English and the French here.In the south-east you'll find 'Black P?gord', with deep valleys and ancient forests. It contains the towns of Saint-Cyprien and Sarlat-la-Caneda, which are both popular with foreign buyers. It houses numerous prehistoric caves with some 30,000 year old cave paintings. Nearest international airports are Limoges, Bergerac and Bordeaux with regular flights back to the UK, and the department has good motorway and TGV access.
