This authentic farmhouse in the “longère” style is surrounded by 3150 m2 of park-like grounds with mature trees enclosed by dry stone walls.
The stone built house offers a simple functional kitchen with enough room to eat, a pantry, a dining/living room, 3 bedrooms with bathroom and toilet, a dressing room and storage room. There is an extra bathroom in an outbuilding for summertime! The lofty attics, with their original “tomette” Burgundy terracotta tiles, stretch across the entire building and offer, with a minimum of building work, wonderful further accommodation. The outbuildings are also very attractive and would convert to make beautiful Gites or extra accommodation. There are several barns, a stable, a dairy, garage, other small annexes and typical Burgundy stone vaulted cellars.
The situation within the village is quiet and secluded behind it’s stone walls. The bakery/café/restaurant is a few minutes walk, as is the small supermarket. There is also a much loved garden center at a few minutes drive!
Mont Saint Sulpice is a well run village with plenty of charm and close to the major attractions of northern Burgundy. The famous wine villages of Chablis, Saint-Bris-le-Vineux with their great Chardonnay’s or Irancy and Epineuil, well known for the their Pinot Noir wines are between 20 and 30 minutes drive. Medieval Auxerre and Joigny with it’s outstanding market and 2** Michelin restaurant are both about a 20 minute drive, and the beautiful abbey of Pontigny is only 10 minutes. There are the castles and market towns of the valley of the River Yonne to be discovered and the Forest of Oth, one of the largest in Northern France and a treasure trove for mushroom hunters, all within easy reach.
The area offers myriad cultural events in the region, from exhibitions and wine festivals to theater and concerts in castles and churches.
Many artists and Parisians have embraced this area for it’s proximity to Paris combined with unspoilt nature and a well earned gourmet reputation!
Central Paris, Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports can all be reached by car in about 2 hours. Train station a 15 minute drive, with hourly trains to Paris at 75 minutes.
A very rare find in this area!
