A very interesting project this one, full of character and charm. First thing I should point out is it is all of the buildings in the lead photo as well as a large garage too! I will describe it how it is but the real fun will come with deciding how best to reconfigure the layout to suit your needs. It is partly habitable but the first room you come into from the courtyard is the "kitchen", well it has a sink in it and a couple of cupboards on the wall! So that would be the first job or you may decide to put a kitchen in one of the other rooms. The next room you come into is either a dining room or bedroom and has lovely long windows with attractive wrought iron grill. Off this room is a door which leads to the bathroom with wc and also the large living room with feature fireplace, then there is another room of similar size which again has a sink but is in total need of renovation but does have exposed beams and a fireplace too, will be very nice when done up and you might prefer to have this as a large kitchen/dining room, or 2 bedrooms and a bathroom, choice is yours! There is also an attic which could be utilised if required. Then there is a 2 roomed house which is in need of total restoration but again could be turned into a nice one bed gite. There is a courtyard and small garden and also a garage but you've guessed it, again needs some restoration! Read more ...
You need to be careful with this one, you could end up falling in love with it and get carried away! It has lots of lovely original character features such as the hand made floor tiles, exposed wooden beams and some of the wrought iron work as well as the layout of the old buildings. This is what buying an old property in France is all about, taking something the French have turned their back on and bringing it back to life. This one is not for the fainthearted!!! You will need to be brave or experienced, preferably both. The village unfortunately doesn't have any commerce but has a lovely old church and is a good area for walking and is only a short drive from Le Blanc offering all amenities such as bars, restaurants, shops, markets and also a hospital and also the beautiful village of Angles sur l'Anglin much loved by the French and British alike. There are also other historic towns in the region such as St Savin which has a UNESCO world heritage site ancient romanesque abbey at its heart, Chauvigny, Montmorillon, and is only 40mins from Poitiers with its TGV station and autoroute (A10) Paris/Bordeaux and airport (regular Ryanair flights direct to the UK). Also within easy reach are the parc national de la Brenne with its unique wildlife and over 3,000 lakes, all of the Loire Valley chateaux, La Haute Touche (the largest safari park in France!) and ZooParc de Beauval with its giant pandas classed in the top 15 zoos in the world!!! Whether you feel like exploring the wine growing areas of the Loire or the medieval villages of the area, such as Loches where Joan of Arc met with the King of France or Amboise, the resting place of Leonardo da Vinci or the Futuroscope theme park (France's 2nd most popular after you know where!) there are so many things in the area to see and do.
