The property is located in a small village and is set back from the road. Approached through gates into an enclosed landscaped frontage you cannot fail to be impressed by the appearance of the house with its tall chimneys and white shutters.

Entering the property into a grand reception hall with its large stair case leading to the first floor, you feel the ambience and period style of the house immediately.

On either side of the reception hall are two large rooms with period features. One is used as a dining room and the other as a lounge. The large windows in these rooms ensure good levels of natural light. Both have large ornate feature fireplaces. The dining room has wooden panelled walls and the original architrave doors and ceiling coving.

Adjacent to the lounge is a room currently used as a games room and study. Adjacent to the dining room is a small passageway giving access to a room currently used as a bedroom, a utility room and a spacious bathroom. Access to the kitchen is also from the dining room or from the rear of the entrance hall.

The stairs from the reception hall lead to a large landing area with guest lounge area. Off this landing, which runs the entire length of the house, there are seven bedrooms some of which are currently used as guest rooms and some as private rooms.

The four spacious principle bedrooms are en suite with luxurious bathrooms. The remaining three bedrooms comprise two double and one single bed rooms. From the first floor the stairs continue to the attic area. This area has the potential to be converted into further rooms or bedrooms.



At the rear of the property are the outbuildings formerly stables and barns and two independent gites. One has been restored but would benefit from some modernisation and the other requires restoring.

This property was originally renovated in the 1970’s and the current owners have continued with the work.

About the area.

The region and around St Lo is the horse capital of France, where the temperate climate compared to the south is ideal for breeding and training. The national Haras stud at St Lo is worth a visit as it reflects the history of people working successfully with horses on their local land. TGV fast trains are planned for Paris to Caen and Cherbourg for 2020. The current train service is reasonable at 2 1/2 hours on a through train. The climate is oceanic with relatively mild winters. Temperate summers, around 25°C, can occasionally reach 40°C in direct sun light The west coast benefits from the Gulf stream’s influence, allowing the naturalization of many mediterranean and exotic plants (mimosas, palms, agaves...). There is often a sea breeze on the coast, which combined with tides contributes to quick temperature changes over a single day. Sea temperatures can be very pleasant for swimming between July and October Inhabitants of the department are called Manchots or Manchois.
