The foundations probably date from Roman times. St Germain was the way station on the Roman road that joined Lyon to Rome The existing building is 19th century. The interior has been artfully and thoughtfully renovated over the past three years. The property overlooks the Tarentaise valley from the sunny side with totally uninterupted views of the Les Arcs and La Plagne ski areas and the impressive Mt. Pourri at 3'800 meters altitude.
St Germain is one of the prettiest villages in the area, at 1300 meters altitude featuring an authentic mountain charm and an old water mill museum. Behind the house the mountain chain streches on up to the Mt Blanc range with no other roads or habitation in between. The very pretty village of Seez is a 10 minute drive away and has all the basic supplies on hand as well as a few hotels and bars . Bourg ST maurice is a furthewr 5 minutes drive with a wide choice of shops, bars and restasurants .
Bourg has now become a great all year round tourist town
