Exceptional chateau dating back to the 12th century with three guest apartments, pool and 4,5 ha of parkland and woods.

The Chateau is steeped in history with its origins going back to the 12th century. The present buildings date from the 15th and 18th centuries. It has been carefully restored over the last 20 years and preserved its wealth of architectural features, exposed stone walls, magnificent fireplaces and oak beamed ceilings. The whole chateau is flooded with light, due to the numerous tall windows on opposite sides. The magnificent barn has been converted into three guest apartments. The swimming pool overlooks the 3 ha of parkland and woods.

Passing the double wrought iron gates you approach this exceptional estate down an avenue of tall 200 year old plane trees, planted by one of Napoleon’s generals, before entering the walled courtyard. On the south side is the chateau and on the north side the beautiful barn.
On the ground floor you will discover a large (45m²) central hall that could be used as a dining room, a big fitted kitchen (41m²) with monumental open fireplace and ancient stone sink, the dining area of the kitchen could accommodate up to 20 people, the spacious living room (50m²) with its beautiful fireplace. All rooms have exquisite tiled floors, are flooded with light due to the numerous tall windows and doors leading from each room onto the sunny south facing terrace and the north facing courtyard.
The beautiful spiral staircase in the 12th century tower leads to the first floor with 4 beautiful bedrooms, all with old oak flooring, 3 of them with a fireplace and all flooded with light. The 37m² master bedroom with its small round tower, fireplace and bathroom en-suite with bath, shower, basin, bidet and WC. There is a further large bathroom also with bath, shower, basin, bidet and WC.
On the second floor you find another 4 large bedrooms, 3 of them with fireplace, and 2 spacious bathrooms, each with bath, shower, basin, bidet and WC.
The top floor with its cathedral like ceiling exposes the magnificent oak roof construction. The area is divided into 60m² living room and the other 90m² are used by the current owner as her artist studio.
On the north side and parallel to the chateau you discover the barn, an extremely beautiful building covering 150m² floorspace, with on the ground floor an immense laundry room, cave, a large games room used for storing the garden furniture during the winter, boiler room for the oil central heating, and garage for 3 cars
On the south side of this incredible building a double stone staircase leads to the first floor, containing 3 independent 60m² apartments. Each apartment contains an open plan 31m² sitting/dining/fitted kitchen area with cathedral type ceiling exposing the wooden beamed roof construction, a 16m² double bedroom and bathroom with bath, basin and WC. A wooden staircase leads to the attic with space for a further double bed. Each one of these is charming and will provide delightful accommodation for friends and guests.
The second barn measuring about 90m² with its original bread oven serves as storage room and atelier.

The 12 x 6 meter infinity pool to the west of the chateau enjoys wonderful views over beautiful, unspoilt countryside. The estate nestles in over 4 ha of attractive parkland with apple and hazelnut orchards. The 30 hazelnut trees produce a wonderfully flavoured nut oil. The gardens have been lovingly cared for and include sweeping lawns, mature specimen trees with shaded and open areas.
This is an extremely beautiful estate situated in a traditional rural unspoilt area of France. Close to the river Dordogne it borders three of the most sought after departments of France, Correze, Lot and Dordogne. It is within walking distance of a beautiful old market town on the river Dordogne, 40 km from Brive with its new airport.

Location in France

Correze is situated on the western edge of the Massif Central and contains some of the prettiest villages in France. Agriculture is still the main economy with arable land making up around one third of the department. There are two main rivers cutting through the landscape, the Vezere and the Dordogne. The latter has been tamed by a total of five dams producing a number of large lakes in the south.
Tulle, with a population of 15500, is the departmental capital. It's found stretched out over 3 km on both banks of the River Correze. There's a vibrant market held every Wednesday in front of the Gothic and Romanesque Cathedral, which sells lace, clothes and an extensive selection of local produce.
Brive-la-Gaillarde with a population of around 52,000 is the largest town in the department and has an attractive city centre as well as an excellent infrastructure.
Correze has a number of villages classified as "the most beautiful in France". Collonges la Rouge with its bright red sandstone houses is one of them. It is adorned with flowers and surrounded by a lush green landscape. There's a half-Romanesque church in the centre, which was once used by pilgrims stopping off on their way to Compostela. Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne is one of the most attractive medieval villages in France. Finally, Treignac is one of the largest villages on the list. It is very lively and has much on offer.
Limoges and Rodez airport have regular flights back to the UK, the A20 and A89 which run through the department offer great access both North/South and West/East, and the TGV currently runs to Limoges and in the future to Brive la Gaillarde.
