This ski chalet is already successfully run as a winter chalet business providing a fully catered weekly holiday spot. It has the most incredible views over Saulire and the Meribel Valley which you can also enjoy from the hot tub and can sleep up to 20 plus staff room.
It's situated in a quiet corner of the Meribel Valley in an idyllic hamlet, only 6 minutes away from Meribel resort. The resort can be reached by a free shuttle bus service passing through the village. The chalet also has an exciting "ski to the door" option and is perfectly situated at the end of the village giving you the feel of the adjoining mountains being your own.
The chalet has a warm and comfortable feel with a huge open fire in the living room. The location provides amazing views which can be admired from the comfort of the balcony or the two terraces, one of which has a hot tub. The separate kitchen is a good size and fully equipped, designed for use by a professional chef.
There are 6 bedrooms currently used for guests, plus an upstairs apartment with two bedrooms and a further small staff room on the ground floor. At the moment the Chalet is rented each winter by a ski company, who would be interested in renting it from the new owners should they wish to, but this will be at the new owners choice.
On the ground floor is a large garage currently used as a boot and coat room off which is a laundry and boiler room housing copious amounts of hot water. Next to this is the staff accommodation with private bathroom. There is also a plot of land in the a joining field of 46 metre squared.
Going up to the first floor you’ll find two twin rooms with shared shower but own toilets, one ensuite double, one large ensuite family room with a double and a bunk bed, all rooms have a view.
Moving up to the second floor you come to large living area with views up to the mountains. This leads to outside balcony, terrace and Jacuzzi through patio doors which let in the light and bring the views into the living space. Next door is the kitchen and there is also an ensuite bedroom on this floor.
Lastly we reach the third floor with an ensuite double and a private apartment that can be accessed either from inside or outside the chalet with two bedrooms, a bathroom and kitchenette and lounge area.
The chalet is located just a short drive or ski bus away for the resort of Meribel, which is at the heart of the 3 Valleys, the world's biggest ski area with 375 miles of groomed runs. Winter activities aren’t just limited to skiing or boarding, there is snow shoeing, dog sledding, paraponting and, of course, taking advantage of the gastronomic delights of the wonderful local produce. In the summer you can walk direct from the door on superb mountain walks, or join the increasing numbers of mountain bikers. There is also a golf course in the valley and a whole range of summer activities to enjoy which makes this a great all year round location.
International airports of Geneva, Greoble and Lyon are all about 2hr 30 away with Chambery just 1hr30. In addition there is the snow train that arrive from London direct to Moutiers just 20mins from your door.
Savoie 73.
Tucked away in a corner of the Rhone-Alps, and possibly the most varied region of France, is the Savoie (73) - one of the most beautiful places on the planet. With soaring peaks, verdant valleys, deep lakes, rushing rivers and dense forests where wild boars forage and eagles soar. Here you will find beauty in abundance with breathtaking views round every corner. A region of such contrasts also provides many gastronomic delights from a wide range of local wines to cheeses like Beaufortain that are actually made in the high mountain pastures during the warm summer months. Within the Savoie is an area known as the Tarentaise, which is essentially a vast area carved out by huge glaciers, it brings to mind the Winter Olympics and famous ski resorts such as Courchevel, Méribel, Tignes, Val d'Isère and La Plagne. But don’t be deceived it is also well worth a visit for its Baroque chapels, picturesque hamlets with colonnaded houses and the wide-open spaces of the Parc National de la Vanoise. The diversity of the flora and fauna in this area is well-known and attracts nature lovers as well as snow sport fans! But for most people this is home to some of the most famous and the largest ski areas and ski resorts in the world.
The 3 Valleys (Courchevel- La Tania- Meribel- Brides Les Bains- Les Menuires- St. Martin de Belleville- Val Thorens- Orelle-) is the largest fully linked ski area in the world with over 600 km of piste.
La Plagne-Les Arcs, Paradiski is the second largest fully linked ski area and the largest by area. Since 2003 the Vanoise Express cable car—the world’s largest—has linked these two resorts from just above Montchavin-Les Coches in the La Plagne ski area to Plan Peisey in Les Arcs offering a total of 425 km of piste.
For many skiers the Espace Killy (Val d’Isère-Tignes) remains the number one ski area and last February Val d’Isère was host to the World Downhill Skiing Championships. The area is named after one of France’s great skiing champions, Jean Claude Killy, who won triple gold medals at the 1968 Winter Olympics.
If you add to the above well known resorts such as La Rosiere, Sainte Foy and Valmorel then no wonder the Savoie is the home of skiing for many UK skiers.
THREE VALLEYS SKI AREA.
A beautiful place all year with highly defined seasons and quiet and tranquil out of the ski season when the crowds have gone home, and then suddenly once again each winter the mountains of the Three Valleys come alive with people enjoying this vast ski area..... the largest linked skiing in the world.
The Three Valleys ski domain provides more than 600km of runs and probably the same again off-piste. In fact it should now be called the Four Valleys with the link into Orelle (Maurianne Valley) which can be accessed by ski from Val Thorens. This has also opened up some extraordinary off-piste runs.
The Three Valleys provides direct links between the ski resorts of St Martin de Belleville, Les Menuires, Val Thorens, Méribel, Mottaret, La Tania, Brides les Bains and the four Courchevel resorts, la Praz, 1550, 1650 and the world famous 1850 (probably the most expensive ski resort in the world!) – and now Orelle, in the fourth valley - all under one ski pass offering on-piste skiing from 1300m all the way up to 3200m. As these figures show the Three Valleys offers huge altitude differences favouring long run skiing. It has an ultra efficient, state of the art ski lift system, quality piste preparation and a dense artificial snow making system (1920 snow cannons) complementing the excellent natural snow cover.
However, if you are not a fan of downhill skiing or like some variety during your stay then you can also roam the domain at your leisure on foot, hiking along the marked trails, or using the pedestrian ski lift passes. Many trails have been created especially to enjoy the increasingly popular snowshoeing sport and to discover the valleys from a new perspective: flora, wildlife, monuments, and spectacular scenery. There are also many cross-country skiing tracks that are prepared and maintained each day. These allow you to take in the breathtaking scenery and provide the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of the mountains away from the pastes.
The property in the Three Valleys is extremely varied from the uber luxury chalets of Courchevel 1850 with their own helipads and underground pools to the cramped ski apartments, designed to get you skiing as cheaply as possible. Then there are the village properties ranging from tiny mountain barns to renovate and mountain houses sandwiched together in untidy yet charming rows through to imposing buildings that may once have been a monastery or village hospital perhaps – and then there’s everything in between.
An interesting and wonderful area all year round, there is much more here than the snow sports, and yet it is this that draws the crowds.
