My area stretches from Excideuil travelling north eastwards towards the borders of the Dordogne and the Correze. The countryside is beautiful with outstanding views from every aspect. The market town of Excideuil is historical and quaint and many of its houses date back in time to the 15 th and 16th centuries with its Gothic church standing proudly in the centre of the town. Excideuil's castle played a key part in establishing the village as the capital of the Perigord Vert. It is set on a rocky outcrop, overlooking the Loue Valley. There is plenty to do in this area with kayaking competitions on the Auvérzère river in February each year, the Marché de Nuits during July and August which have become very well known in St Mesmin bringing in many visitors to enjoy the atmosphere of eating al fresco with excellent food and wine in abundance, dancing into the small hours of the morning and with many market stalls to browse around as well. Arnac-Pompadour is a bustling little town with a Chateau given to the famous mistress of Louis XV with its stables and Orangery. It also has the Haras National de Pompadour (National Stud) which is famous for the Anglo Arab breed of horse with its National Mare Farm and of course the Hippodrome, which is a first class racecourse which is one of the most beautiful and challenging in France. Segur le Chateau, classed as one of the “Les Plus Beaux Villages de France” (one of the most beautiful villages in France) is situated on a peninsula formed by a loop in the River Auvérzère and dates back to the 15th century. It hosts the Jazz festival every summer which is a must to see. This area is steeped in history with its many chateaux, rivers and undulating countryside. Nearby airports are Brive and Limoges, both being approximately 1 hours drive away with flights to and from the UK. The property in this area is very reasonably priced and offers a wide range of choice from village houses to country rural estates to chateaux. In fact you will be almost sure to find what you are looking for in this idyllic part of France.
My husband and I had a holiday home in the Perigord Vert area of France since 2002 and spent many very enjoyable holidays here. We loved especially to come to the house at Christmas time to get away from the commercial fever which took hold every year in our native country, Ireland. We love the countryside, markets, towns and villages. We find the French people in the Perigord Vert are so receptive and welcoming. In 2007 we made the decision to move to France on a full time basis and set up our gite business at that stage. Always loving property and anything to do with property I joined Leggett Immobilier and have not looked back. Having been through the buying and selling processes in France I have gained invaluable experience and would love the opportunity to share my experiences with you in helping you find your dream home in France.View Aquitaine Information Homepage
