Situated near the south west corner of Brenne Regional Nature Park, Liglet is an attractive sought-after village with a bar/restaurant, boulangerie, hairdresser, tea shop and library/general store/post office. There is a small English speaking community in the village. Nearby is the town of Le Blanc, with its' twice weekly markets and wider retail offer. Major shopping at the historic city of Poitiers and also at Montmorillon.
Called Lilec in the 11th century, Liglet is a village of approx 300 inhabitants which offers an active community life, with many ancient buildings. Schools, health centre and hospital are close by. Outdoor sports, and wildlife-based activities are available year-round in the Brenne park, known for its diverse flora and fauna, 4000+ lakes and ponds and also home of the country's best goat's cheese. There are plenty of country hikes from the village and along the nearby Benaize river.
Flights to the UK and Europe are available from Poitiers, Limoges and Tours airports, all nearby. The ferry ports are a 5 hour drive.
