This beautiful and tastefully renovated farmhouse is located on the edge of the "spa" town of Bourbonne les Bains in the Haute Marne.
The renovation has been done by the owner himself who is a contractor by profession and that is reflected in the quality and details. The property belongs to English people who have given it their own taste and have preserved all the old details in order to maintain the original character of the property.
There are 4 bedrooms on the first floor of which 2 have en-suite bathrooms. The en-suite in the master bedroom has been playfully incorporated with the entrance via an antique mirror cabinet.
On the ground floor, the original bathroom has been retained.
The kitchen is "Country Style" and is very cosy.
The property has a large annex of about 170m2 which is partly furnished as a summer house / outdoor kitchen with a comfortable seating area and a separate dining area right next to the BBQ oven. The other part of the annex is meant to become a 2 bedroom Gîte or B&B, works have started, water, power en drainage is done but the buildup needs to be finished.
Between the house and the annex is a spacious sun terrace.
The whole has a large garden of about 2900 m2 with many trees.
The central heating is on gas with a H.R. boiler and everything is double glazed except for some original downstairs windows which have been restored during the renovation.
The owners are willing to sell furnished, a value for this is to be agreed.
The “Haute Saone”, part of France-Comté, colloquially known as ‘Le Grand Est Oublié’ has now become “The New Place” to be ! And not without good reason! Not only has it, seemingly, been forgotten by Paris but it’s never top of the list for the millions of tourists who flock to the French beaches, the Alps or other popular parts of the country, during their holidays. Over the last 10 - 20 years the local climate has become micro Mediterranean but without the Mistral and the oppressive heat more and more common on the Côte D’Azur or the Atlantic. From a traveller’s perspective we are a reasonable 5 hour drive from Calais, 3 from Luxembourg and just 4 1/2 hours from Frankfurt, with Basel (2 hours) our nearest international airport with daily flights to the UK. Les Vosges, the Jura and the Alsace are no more than a 1 hrs drive and Dijon, very much the gastronomic capital of France, is just over an hour away. If you love farm lands and country side, rolling hills and a great deal of culture and history then I really recommend the Haute Saone. It’s very much possible that you’ll fall in love with this stunning and forgotten little piece of France.
