And the town of St Yrieix la Perche, with its wide range of shops and restaurants, station and hospital, is only 15km away.
The nearby towns of Excideuil (10km), Tourtoirac and Hautefort (20km) have places of interest and shops and supermarkets, doctors, post office, pharmacies and schools. They all have beautiful chateaux; the one in Excideuil offers cinema evenings in the summer, the Chateau in Hautefort is a major tourist attraction and the chateau in Tourtoirac has an annual music festival and the village also has an annual art competition. Perigueux, the capital of the Dordogne and Brive are around 50 minutes.
There are plenty of activities nearby too - golfing at Essendieras (8km), hot air ballooning, kayaking, cycling and beautiful walking paths and tourist destinations such as Sarlat, Montignac and Lasaux are within easy reach.
