There is also a short beginner drag lift and the possibility of sledging and a choice of runs bring you right back to the village, close to the house. There are snow canons to ensure maximum use of the ski season. There are also a range of pisted Cross country pistes starting near the house. Le Praz is also the start of the Millet or La Plume ski touring, randonée climbs to either 1850, or the top of Loze.
.A lovely lake sits at the edge of the village, it is frozen and used for ice diving in the winter, and fishing in the summer. The village has 6 great restaurants and 2 bars. These range from a pizzeria, sports bar, a vaulted atmospheric wine bar to 3 high level restaurants and a typical Savoyard restaurant. The village also has a supermarket, butcher, speciality cheese shop, bakers, and tabac/newsagents along with several ski shops. Also new to the village is a multipurpose building with parking, tourist office, lift pass office, library and conference spaces, aswell as an astroturf flootball pitch in the roof. The village is due to be the finish for the 2023 ski world cup race and the new piste “the eclipse” has been prepared especially for this not to be missed event.
The 1992 Olympic ski jumping took place here and the Olympic torch remains in the village and the 3 ski jumps are used for local children from the age of 6 to the international ski jumping competitions both in summer and winter.
There are many sporting events through the summer and activities for everyone and the fete de la madeleine in the centre of the village is the highlight of the summer calendar for the village where big tables are set out and locals dress up in their traditional clothes, play musical instruments and celebrate for the whole weekend.
Le Praz is beautiful all year round, In the summer there are gorgeous walks around the lake and village, in the forest to waterfalls or other nearby villages. In autumn the colour of the trees is just stunning. Slightly further afield you can climb mountains, visit lakes, market towns and other ski areas.
