Absolutely charming manoir, situated in quiet parkland just a few minutes walk from the centre of town. Retaining many original features such as parquet floors, oak panelling and original tiles, this bright and spacious property has been renovated but there is further potential to convert the large attic space into further accommodation, whilst in the grounds there is a huge building/garage area which would make a fabulous function room. A garden with a stream, a lake and a good size field complete the property. Read more ...
This quite unique property couldn't be better placed if you crave the peace of the countryside but want amenities on your doorstep. Nestled beneath the historic town walls with approximately 7 acres of land including gardens, a large meadow bordering some 400 yards of trout fishing (subject to normal licence) a small lake, two ponds, a cascade and stream, and a copse in which thousands of snowdrops with wild daffodils and orchids put on an annual show. There are extensive outbuildings, comprising five stables and garaging for at least six cars. The underground area boasts a large purpose-built wine cellar and several storage areas.
Whilst the current owners have carried out extensive renovation work, re-roofing the entire manoir and outbuildings, double glazing, connection to mains drainage and mains water, new connections to telephone and electricity, rewiring property and outbuildings and extensive redecorating, they have retained the authenticity and kept many of the period features intact.

Formerly used as servants' quarters, this floor contains superb open roof timbers, two unrestored rooms previously used as bedrooms, and a large room either end with space in the projections at each end of the building for two additional bathrooms. All windows at this level have been replaced and double-glazed, and new flooring laid in part.
Separate outbuildings originally used as stabling and loose boxes, currently workshops and garaging. Five stables could still be used as such. the loose box area is now
A large 4 car garage (recently re-roofed), and in another part of the complex is a garage for two cars. Save for the re-roofing of the entirety, these buildings have not been restored. The main building would make a superb gite and/or winter quarters or large function room.
The grounds cover roughly seven acres, three of which is garden, with a long cascade and unrestored lavoir, two ponds joined by antique granite troughs, mature trees, and many other trees and shrubs more recently planted. Fruit trees include several cherry trees, apple, and plum. The other four acres is separated from the main property by a small pedestrian road and consists of a field bordering the River Ante, including a small lake (with wild duck, heron, coypu, otters, geese, kingfishers) fed by the stream passing through the main property. The field borders onto this river, and is plentifully stocked with brown trout and the occasional sea trout.
