The property is in a quiet, countryside location but only a 5 minute drive to the tourist character town of Pontrieux, where you can enjoy a weekly market selling local fresh produce and where during the summer there are many free events including Fest-Noz, folklore parades, a ‘Yesteryear Market’ showcasing historic artisan skills such as butter and cider-making, traditional Breton music and an annual ‘Paint Pontrieux’ art competition.

Pontrieux itself is officially recognised as a ‘Petite Cité de Caractère’ - a title awarded to small towns of historical and architectural interest. It has many beautiful features, the most well-known of which are its ‘lavoirs’ - the old wash houses unique to Brittany which still line the river Trieux. These picturesque buildings from which the maids would wash the household laundry were very much the status symbols of their time, and over fifty of them can still be admired from the river on the many boat trips available. Pontrieux is also a designated ‘Flower Town’ with a ‘4 Flower’ status (the highest level awarded) for its exceptional displays of flower displays and greenery. In addition to this the town boasts a wealth of boutique shops, art galleries, fantastic restaurants, antique markets and cafes whilst the attractive marina offers boat trips, canoeing, and kayaking. Nearby is the stunning landscape of Domaine de la Roche Jagu, with its medieval castle overlooking the magnificent estuary of Le Trieux, and the incredible ‘Steam Train Trieux’ which passes through the valley between Paimpol and Pontrieux - a truly magical journey which takes in all the unforgettable landscapes surrounding this area of outstanding beauty.

Saint Brieuc – the principal city of the Côtes d’Armor - is a 40 minute drive away with all amenities and services of a coastal capital: hospital, high street shops, museum, exhibitions, and the fifth largest bay in the world with cliffs, dunes and sandy beach.

Rail – The house is a 10 minute drive from the train station at Pontrieux; from here you can catch a train directly to Paris in just over 3 hours. The main station is well connected for the TER regional rail network to discover the rest of Brittany and beyond.
