As you approach this fantastic property you are immediately struck by the impressive gated entrance and the substantial 'dressed granite' property within. Built around 1895 for members of the French and Belgian Nobility, this stunning building has been used as a hunting lodge, a ‘sanctuary’ for French resistance fighters, a hospital, a home for the elderly and now a family home.
As you climb the steps to the front doors it is just like stepping back in time. The grand entrance hallway, with original tiled flooring will keep the impression going as you can imagine meeting and greeting your friends for formal or informal parties.
To the left of the hallway is the first reception room (32m2) with a lovely ‘feature’ ceiling, wood burner and parquet flooring which is predominant in the rest of the house. Go through this room and you move into a further, bigger reception room (41m2) with another wood burner. This room is to the rear of the house and has a cosy feel to it despite being bigger than the first reception room.
To the right of the hallway is the formal dining room (37m2), again with an impressive fire place, wood burner and beamed ceiling. Off this room is the fully fitted kitchen with oak furnishings and a centre isle.
There is also a downstairs cloakroom.

Up the central, ‘open spiral’ staircase, which at one time had a lift running up the middle of it, you reach the first floor where you will find the four bedrooms. The Master bedroom, facing to the rear of the house and enjoying the views is (26m2) with a walk in dressing room (15m2) at one end and the en-suite shower and Wc (8m2) at the other. There is also a set of double doors leading out onto the ‘Roof Terrace’ (52m2)
The second bedroom (21m2) with a (7m2) en-suite shower and WC faces the front of the house.
The third bedroom (18m2) with a (5m2) shower and WC faces over the rear garden.
The fourth bedroom is in fact bigger than the 2nd and 3rd at (23m2) but does not have its own bathroom, there is however a magnificent ‘family bathroom’ and Wc next door which is almost 20m2 and features a free standing roll top bath in the middle of the room and dual aspect.

Up to the second floor and you will find the same amount of space again, approximately (140m2). This floor was previously as part of the hospital but is currently being restored. The owners have installed the relevant plumbing and electric connection but have not decided whether to create more bedrooms, a games room, a cinema or a gymnasium. There are numerous possibilities.

The lower ground floor was also used extensively by the previous owners for a variety of purposes including a chapel with its own ‘confessional’, a bedroom for the ‘on call’ nurse, a ‘drying room’ a ‘cold room’ and a number of store rooms. It is currently only used for storage and a workshop but could be reinstated as required.

Outside is a lovely garden to the front of the house and a large paddock to the rear. There is also a large open sided barn.
Just 15Km up the road is Lake Vassiviere which is one of the biggest man-made lakes in Europe where you can enjoy all kinds of sporting activities or just lie on one of the numerous beaches.
This house will not disappoint anyone who is looking for a property with a WOW factor !
