This is a rare opportunity for anyone wishing to truly experience what it feels like to live for extended periods in the Alps; the skiing, the cycling, the hikes, autumn colours and summer evenings. Unlike most chalets, this wonderful mountain home has been designed by the architect/owner themselves to really live in. Underfloor heating, a fabulous kitchen, large (71 m2) open-plan lounge and dining area with incredible views, combined with a plethora of small touches - Spanish stone tiles, traditional wooden beam designs as well a large American style ice/making fridge - all make for a great combination of modern and homely.
Ground Floor - 3 outdoor private parking spaces, entrance, independent studio with 1 bedroom and kitchenette, laundry room and cellar/garage with huge potential for adding a sauna/jacuzzi.
1st Floor - Large, underfloor heated, living and dining area, a fully equipped well-designed, open kitchen, storage room and guest toilet. Spacious south-facing balcony offers wonderful mountain views.
2nd Floor - 2 large bedrooms, both with south-facing balconies, a ‘child's bedroom’ with slanted, Alpine style ceiling and a large bathroom with freestanding tub and shower.
NOTE: From 2021 the village of Huez, and next to it, this chalet, will be served by a new Express ski-lift directly linking it to the slopes of the Bergers district in just a few minutes.
Alpe d’Huez Village/Resort:
300 days of bright sunshine a year.
That’s what awaits to future owner of this chalet.
Iconic Alpe d’Huez of Tour de France fame, is situated on a fully south-facing plateau at 1860m, giving you up to 7 1/2 hours sun a day in December and a full fantastic 11 hours for spring skiing. The skiing from the Pic Blanc glacier at 3000m+ with its 250km of slopes has something for everyone, including the famous ‘Sarenne’ a black-rated piste of 16 km - making it the longest of its kind in the world.
The property itself sits between ‘virage’ (turn) 5 and 6 - halfway been the resort and charming Huez village below - making it perfect for cycling enthusiasts. Indeed the presence of so many famous ‘Cols’; The Glandon, Croix de la Fer, Lauteret, Galibier and Alpe d’Huez itself within a day’s ride, when the snow melts, you’ll find yourself the owner of a chalet in a cycling Mecca.
Huez village, at 1450m which overlooks the Sarenne gorge - great for summer hikes - offers authentic quaint Alpine charm within walking distance of your chalet. Tiny alleys lead to its ancient Romanesque church and tucked away you will find a couple of cafes, shops and amenities. Thanks to the "Tele-village" cable car of Huez, skiers can access the resort of Alpe d’Huez within 5 minutes.
929km (575 miles) from Calais to Alpe d’Huez - approximately 8.5 hours driving.
