Entirely renovated village property, walking distance to ski lifts... quite unique.
Chantemerle is a traditional alpine village which over the years has grown to be one of the central areas of the Serre Chevalier Ski Domain. Nearly all of the original properties have now been restored and renovated, including this lovely accommodation which is half of a large village house just 150 m from the ski lifts.
It occupies the 2 lower floors of the house and is tucked away in a quiet part of the village. The property has 145 m of habitable space as well as 2 cellars which could be used for either storage or extra living.
The restoration project was meticulously managed and no expense was spared to create a very high quality accommodation. There is underfloor heating throughout and all of the windows and doors as well as all interior materials and fixtures are of of a superior standard.
The ground floor has a spacious entrance hall with a ski and boot recess. Either side of the hall is the kitchen and the living room / dining area. All of this floor has vaulted ceilings which have been remodelled using lime render and exposed stonework. The kitchen is fully fitted and practically configured.
The main living area has an open fireplace and a wonderful central stone supporting pillar. There is dining for eight and two lounge areas.
Upstairs are 3 double bedrooms, one with a modern en suite which has a separate bath and shower. The second shower room is at the opposite end of this floor and it serves the 2 other double bedrooms. There is a separate w.c. on this floor also.
This is a 5 star property which is HIGHLY RENTABLE and it will guarantee a healthy yield on the investment.
Chantemerle is one of the main villages in the Serre Chevalier Valley ski domain. It lies in the middle of the huge larch forest that shelters the lower slopes of this relatively unknown ski-resort which has over 250 kms of pistes making it the 4th largest in France.
The village has maintained a mountain charm that is felt in the ancient architecture and the friendliness of the local community. The valley is also a popular summer destination, attracting white water junkies, downhill mountain bikers and of course the road bike fanatics who come here to challenge themselves against the numerous cols made famous by the Tour de France.
One of the many advantages of owning a property in this area is the proximity to Briancon, at the foot of the valley. This is the highest town in France and has everything one would expect to find in any other town including supermarkets, sports facilities, transport services and schools.
Geographically speaking, the area is ideally situated for visiting nearby Italy and the south coast. The nearest airports are Turin (1hr40) and Grenoble (2hr) and train services come directly in to town as well as nearby Oulx.
