Hidden away at the end of a winding country lane, the property is set around a south-east-facing courtyard in a u-shape. Straight ahead is the original farmhouse, to the left is the gîte (once a stone barn) and to the right is another barn with a workshop area, which could be converted into more accommodation or used as stables or even a yoga studio...

THE LOCAL AREA

This lovely property is not far from a bustling village with a bistro and about 10 minutes away from the town of Gan. A good choice of supermarkets, restaurants and bars can be found in the surrounding area - and there are local farmers’ markets most days of the week. For a much bigger choice of shops and amenities, the city of Pau is 25 minutes away and has just about everything you could possibly need, including excellent schools and a university. Pau also has an International school where the English national curriculum is taught.

The property is close to the Vallée d’Ossau, which is known for its Ossau-Iraty cheese made from sheep’s milk. The Vallée d’Ossau extends to the Spanish border, where you can ski at Gourette, or catch a small open train at Artouste to travel high up into the mountains. The GR10 is accessible at Gourette or you can join the Chemin de St-Jacques-de-Compostelle at nearby Arudy and then follow the “Voie du Piémont” all the way to the Medieval market town of Oloron-Ste-Marie en route for St-Jean-Pied-de-Port and Spain.
