This is a beautiful detached building built in the late 19th Century over three floors. It is situated at the junction of the major roads leading to Alpe d’Huez, Les Deux Alpes and Le Bourg d’Oisans. The operational areas of the hotel have been completely renovated including a complete roof replacement. The interior has been lovingly finished in natural materials to give a modern but mountain feel. The building complies to all a fire safety and disabled access regulations. The property sits on a plot of land totalling 6472m2.
Ground floor comprises a reception area with disabled access and toilet facilities, a central corridor, bar/restaurant, well equipped professional kitchen, laundry room and staff changing room with bathroom. The bar area opens on to a large split level outside terrace with beautiful mountain views all around. The outside lighting creates a lovely evening atmosphere for outside dining.
The first floor comprises 10 rooms. 8 of these rooms have ensuite shower room and toilet. Two of the rooms share toilet facilities. In total the hotel can accommodate 26 people. All the rooms have good natural light and views either looking on to the gardens
or the spectacular mountain surroundings.
The second floor has not been renovated as it could be used either to provide staff accommodation or to create a large apartment for the future owners.
The hotel is located at the heart of the Oisans, an area of outstanding natural beauty which includes the Ecrins National Park. The town of Le Bourg d’Oisans is surrounded by majestic mountains which show evidence of the extreme geological events which formed this incredible area. This can be clearly seen on the cliff faces towering above the town.
Le Bourg d’Oisans effectively forms the entrance to the Ecrins National Park. The town of Bourg d’Oisans is very lively both summer and winter. In the summer it is a hub for Hikers and outdoor sports enthusiasts.
For road cyclists in particular BDO is the mecca of the Southern Alps as it sits at the bottom of the famous 21 bend climb to Alpe d’Huez, made famous by the Tour De France. Many other famous cycling routes can be accessed easily from this point for example, the Col de Galibier, Col de Lautaret, the Croix de Fer, and the Col de Glandon. The legendary Marmotte cyclosportive starts each year in Bourg d’Oisans and finishes in Alpe d’Huez after 174km and 5000m climbing.
In winter for skiers, the hotel is only 18 kilometers from the resort of Alpe d’Huez and 24 km from Les Deux Alpes. Access to both resorts can also be made using the connecting lifts in Venosc 14km or In Allemond 10km.
There is also a comprehensive network of signed VTT (off road cycling) trails plus events like the Mega Avalanche, Mountain of Hell and Traverses de l’Oisans held each year.
For walkers there are over 700km of maintained trails many of which are clearly signposted.
There are many other outdoor activities including Climbing, Para gliding, white water rafting and horse riding.
During the ski season Grenoble & Chambery airport are served from the UK which are about 1hr 30mins away.
In summer the nearest airport is Lyon, approximately 1hr 45 mins and is served daily by many carriers including Easyjet from London Gatwick & Stanstead, British Airways from London Heathrow, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Manchester and BMI from Manchester.
