INFORMATION ON GENERATING ELECTRICITY
The Mill Stream is l'Arce. The river bordering the garden is Le Ne.
The Mill race actually consists of 2 flumes. These originally drove two 21 ft dia wooden mill wheels which in turn drove all the machinery for the mill. The steel centres are still there. 1 in situ and 1 in the garden, They weigh a ton!
It has been estimated that the flow would produce in excess of 9kw of power. This would be Autumn, Winter and Spring. The level drops in full Summer. But the enormous roof would support a number of Photo-voltaic Panels, more than enough to fill
the energy gap.
The property has a new roof and a septic tank which conforms to todays standards
Here is a review from this year (translated from French)
It's amazing to find yourself exactly where the photos opened your imagination. Exactly there enieux. A simple and attentive welcome and a real availability of our two hosts, respectful of the needs of their guests. And then the magic happens. A beautiful house, nature and calm surround you, the swimming pool of course. Places to visit, good places to eat and have fun are numerous in this little-known department of Charentes. Walking, biking, doing nothing, meditating this place is a gift. The rooms and their windows open on the nature are also. They were for us, a window open on the beauty of nature but also on a window open on ourselves. A place, a house, hosts, landscapes, villages, churches, towns, nature, an atmosphere to really discover ... to experience delicate, joyful, deep, simple, relaxing moments, open to self and nature ... a real open window in our lives ... so do not hesitate to let you discover this unique place. ”
