There are 10 apartments in the château, arranged over 3 floors and created in 2000-2001. Most are holiday homes. One can enter from the west, direct from the street, or from the east side, through the garden, which is shared by the residents.
The grand entrance hall is floored with the original encaustic tiles, and the impressive curving stair is made in marble from nearby Caunes Minervois - like the château de Versailles. A large landing on the first floor gives access to four apartments, including this one, which is on the west side, great for afternoon and evening sun.
Its entrance hall, with lovely green encaustic tiles, has a coats cupboard and a door to the large WC (2.6m²) with washing machine. Double doors lead to the inner hall, which like the rest of the apartment, is tiled with the original terracotta floor tiles. On the left, the gracious living room of 28m², with two large glazed double doors leading to the stone balcony of 4m² approx, a red marble fireplace, cornices... next to this is the 11.28m² kitchen, also accessed from the inner hall, which has cream and blue timber units, glazed double doors with a Juliet balcony, and a dining area.
The two bedrooms are of 10.3m² and 11.26m². One has a fitted wardrobe, the other an unfitted wardrobe. Both have glazed double doors, one to a balcony of approx. 2m² and the other with a Juliet balcony. The shower room of 4.5m² has a shower, WC and basin, and a heated towel rail.
The co-propriété fees are 2000€ this year, as there is painting to do in the common areas and because of the travel restrictions, more caretaking is required than usual. They would normally be half this amount.
The garden has a barbecue, permanent dining table and benches, and a removable rotary washing line. The French windows are original, therefore single-glazed. There is electric heating. There is free parking on both sides of the chateau, and in a large car park nearby.
The château is in the centre of Olonzac with its shops, market, restaurants and cafes, and also is just 5 minutes' drive from the Lac de Jouarres, for water sports, and from the Canal du Midi at Homps. The beaches of the Mediterranean can be reached in around 40 minutes and both Beziers and Carcassonne have regular flights to many regional airports in the UK.
Narbonne is 30 km, the sea 46 km, Béziers 43 km, (airport 56 km) Carcassonne 37 km, (airport 41 km) and Spain is 119 km.
