THE LOCAL AREA

The small river next to the cottage flows into the Gave d’Oloron, which used to be an important commercial waterway carrying goods from the Pyrénées and Oloron-Ste-Marie, all the way to the port at Bayonne. Nowadays, however, the Gave d’Oloron is better known for its salmon fishing and exciting white-water rafting trips!

The cottage is in a perfect location for anyone who loves both skiing and watersports. Spain and several Pyrénées ski resorts are about an hour away to the south - and the many Atlantic beach resorts are about 75 minutes to the west. Toulouse and Bordeaux are about two hours away. The closest airports are at Pau, Tarbes-Lourdes and Biarritz.
