This charming property is situated in a typical, quintessentially French hamlet, surrounded by an outstanding natural beauty only 8 km from Soissons. Looking quite compact and unassuming from the road, it surprises a first-time visitor by its generous size and amazing views from its terrace over a forested valley.
Geographical location: Soissons (8 km), Compiègne (45 km), Reims (62 km), CDG airport (74 km), Paris (95 km), Calais (244 km). Soissons has a full range of schools, shops, restaurants and services, as well as a direct railway link to Paris and Laon. Read more ...
This property was built at the end of the 19th century of local stone in traditional style with a ‘crow-stepped gable’ (‘corbie step’). It is situated in an area known for its rolling hills and natural caves, historic abbeys and castles.
From the road, the house appears to be quite compact. However, it is just an illusion. The house is huge and what you see from the access road is just the tip of it. There is also a lot of room for off-road parking, and a garage, large enough for two cars.
Let’s look inside! From the entrance we see stairs going to the upper and lower floors. Straight ahead, there is a large fitted kitchen with dining table and chairs and amazing views over the valley from a large window.
To the left, there is a living/dining room with a fireplace (insert). It is light and airy thanks to windows facing both front and back gardens. There is also a WC on this floor.
Upstairs, at one end of the house, there is a Master suite consisting of a very large bedroom with lots of built-in storage and the adjoining bathroom with a shower cubicle and a hand wash basin.
At the other end, there are further three bedrooms, a dressing room, and a family bathroom with bathtub and WC.
On the lower ground floor, there is a bedroom/office, a WC, and a spa room, containing both a shower and a sauna, as well as a sitting area. By the patio door there is a well-equipped kitchenette – handy for barbecuing on the terrace outside.
There are a few storage rooms, and, finally, a large room which can be used as a bedroom, or an additional living room.
The property is in a ready-to-move-in condition and, if required, can be sold fully furnished, with all furniture, fixtures and fittings at an additional cost, subject to negotiation.
Each floor can be accessed directly from the outside and can be used as self-contained apartments for renting out on a short- or long-term basis. Rooms can also be rented out on an individual basis (Airbnb, b/b, etc).
Outside, there is a handy storage building and a large terrace at the back. The views of the ancient castle-like fortified farmstead and a forested valley from the terrace are truly breath-taking.
Underneath the terrace there are three rooms, overlooking the valley. These could be fitted with windows and doors and put to good use, increasing the habitable floor area by additional 50-60 m2.
The stairs, leading down there, also give access to the garden below. It is laid out in three terraces and consists of an orchard (peach trees, apple tree, plum tree, cherry tree, hazelnut tree, blackcurrant) and forest trees. While sitting on the terrace, sipping tea or coffee, you can observe the local wildlife: squirrels, wild boars, roe deer and wild birds.
You can also walk and cycle in the valley below enjoying fresh air and exercise.
The property can be viewed by appointment with the agent only.
