This stone-built village house has been meticulously restored and renovated by the current owners. The quality of the workmanship and materials is exceptional – and the landscaped gardens make the property as pretty as a picture! If you’re interested in renting out the apartment as a gîte or to B&B guests, the house is ideal since the ground floor and upper floors are completely self-contained, yet access can be given for serving breakfast upstairs, if necessary. Also, the convenient location of the house in the foothills of the Pyrénées is bound to make your business a huge success all year round! Read more ...

This typical Béarnaise village house is on a south-west-facing hillside as you leave Louvie-Juzon. It overlooks the main village and has fabulous views of the Pyrénées to the south and west. Built into the hillside, the house has three floors of stylish accommodation, including a walk-in wine cellar.

The ground floor of the house has a self-contained studio apartment with a private entrance from the road. It is also accessible from the first floor of the house. The first floor has many delightful architectural features, both old and new. The sitting room has a large open fireplace with a modern hot air pump built into it… the dining area is adjacent to the covered balcony with its breathtaking mountain views and glazed patio doors… recuperated cattle stalls provide peep holes into the kitchen… and the luxurious master bedroom suite has a sunken spa-style bath. The second floor has a huge mezzanine area - and the large bedroom could easily be divided to create two bedrooms, if desired.

Outside, the main part of the garden is hidden behind the house, with an additional lawn area alongside the house. Planted with mature trees and shrubs, there are lots of shady spots for relaxing with a glass of wine during the summer months, as well as a terrace area with a barbecue, a covered swimming pool, a pool house and a pond. The garden and terrace are perfect for serving breakfast and evening meals to Bed and Breakfast guests, as are the dining area and covered balcony in the main house.

The property is located in the Vallée d’Ossau, famous for the local sheep’s cheese, Ossau-Iraty. The city of Pau is 30km north of the property – the Pyrénées ski resorts and Spanish border are to the south. If you fancy a day on the beach in Biarritz or St-Jean-de-Luz, the Atlantic coastal resorts are under 90 minutes away, as are the pretty farming villages of the Basque Country with their distinctive white houses and dark red shutters.

Please note that the house is also available for sale together with a two-bedroom annexe above the pool and a slightly larger garden for 299980€ (reference 93594CEL64).

This hillside house, with its unique architecture and covered swimming pool, has huge potential for generating a year-round income by creating a lovely gîte for holidaymakers on the ground floor, or Bed and Breakfast accommodation for short term stays. The area is extremely popular not only with tourists who love to ski in the nearby Pyrénées ski resorts, but also walkers during the rest of the year who love to walk in the mountains. The “Train d’Artouste” and Lourdes are great tourist attractions, as is the “Pic du Midi d’Ossau”. The house would, of course, also make a charming family home or second home, if preferred.

The nearby towns of Rébénacq, Sévignacq-Meyracq, Arudy and Nay are all easily accessible from Louvie-Juzon. All five towns have a good choice of supermarkets, restaurants and bars. Arudy has a market every Tuesday and Saturday morning and Sévignacq-Meyracq has an annual Christmas market in mid-December. For a much bigger choice of shops and amenities, the city of Pau is about 30 minutes away. There is also a university at Pau.

The area has many excellent schools and children are transported to school by bus if they go to school away from the village. There is also a regular bus to Pau which leaves from Gourette and passes through nearby Izeste, Arudy, Sévignacq-Meyracq and Rébénacq.

Louvie-Juzon, Rébénacq, Sévignacq-Meyracq and Arudy are all in the Vallée d’Ossau. The valley extends to the Spanish border, where you can ski at Gourette, or catch a small open train at Artouste to travel high into the mountains. The area is also known for its sheep’s cheese, Ossau-Iraty. The walking route GR10 is accessible at Gourette and it is possible to join the Chemin de St-Jacques-de-Compostelle at Arudy to join the main route at the Medieval market town of Oloron-Ste-Marie.
