Well-appointed kitchen with high quality fittings and fixtures, large lounge / dining area with working fire. In addition to the main dwelling there is the original farmhouse with a kitchen, three other rooms, shower and WC and a separate garage; this could be easily made into gites if that was desirable. There are large garden areas to both the front and rear of the house and the rear has plenty of room for a pool if wanted. The attic area could easily accommodate a further bedroom and shower area if needed. The garage / basement area below the house is open and has plumbing for a utility room as well as potential for other uses. Read more ...
On entering the house via the wide stone staircase from the front garden, is a large hall area (8m²) leading on the right to the lounge / dining area (30m²) with a working fireplace, radiators and three separate doors leading to the balcony area that runs from the front of the house to the rear. To the left of the hall is the kitchen (15m²) and the hallway continues to the left to the three bedrooms (12m², 11m² and 11m²) all of which have radiators and large windows. The hallway continues to the back of the house with access to the bathroom / shower and separate WC. There is a door leading to the back garden at the end of the hall. From the hall is a door and stairs to the basement area (over 130m²) which contains the garage and oil storage tank with plumbing and windows to the side and rear.
It is a five minute walk to St Savin with the Romanesque Abbey Church, (begun in the mid-11th century, it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983), a beautiful location on the river Gartempe with banks, pharmacies, three good restaurants as well as bars and two fabulous bakeries (this is where I buy my croissants and cakes from!) There is also a large supermarket on the outskirts of St. Savin. The local airports of Poitiers and Limoges are both within a 1-hour drive and have regular flights to the UK throughout the year. The ferry port of Caen is less than a four-hour drive away (370km).
