Stunning 19th Century Château, with 14th Century Manoir, Chapel, and Dovecote in 53 ha of magnificent parkland, extensive woodlands, classically styled gardens, and waterfalls. Read more ...

Set in a huge parkland setting, this imposing Château lies just 5km from the south coast of Brittany, with sea views from the 65m high tower. 3km to the east is the picturesque town of Pont Aven, famous for its School of Painting, established in the late 1875 by Paul Gauguin. To the west are the towns of Concarneau (7km) and Quimper (25km), both steeped in Celtic culture and Breton architecture. The Chateau, together with the Manoir, Chapel and Dovecote, have been in the hands of the current owners since 1998, when a centre for creative arts was formed, to take advantage of the remarkable setting, nature reserve and bird sanctuary.

ENTRANCE AND DRIVEWAY – the entrance is 1km from the main Trégunc – Pont Aven road, with an imposing metal gate and long winding drive. This is bordered by rhododendrons and woodland, and finally opens up to the Château itself.

SUMMARY OF BUILDINGS – all are of stone construction with a slated roof Le Château is built on five levels, and currently arranged to provide Bed & Breakfast accommodation on the two upper floors, in 10 individual bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. On the first floor there is a suite of private rooms, comprising a further three bedrooms, two bathrooms, sauna, and 19m2 office, with access to upper and lower levels via the central staircase, the tower stairs, and a third rear stairs. On ground floor level from the large entrance reception, there is a 48m2 dining room, a 48m2 lounge, a smaller dayroom with access on to the terrace and steps leading down to the gardens, a 27m2 library, and a further office. Below lie a series of basement rooms for storage, laundry, and wine storage.
LE MANOIR – 14th Century Manoir in excellent order on two levels, measuring 28.5m x 6.4m. The Manoir is partially converted and especially adapted for use by handicapped persons. It currently offers a single 2 person apartment with views over the park.

LA CHAPELLE – measures 8.3m x 5.3m and remains in its original condition.

WORKS CARRIED OUT – the present owners have undertaken a vast amount of work to bring the Château up to latest standards, and great care and attention has been made to repair & maintenance of the building fabric, to the extent that the building is now in a perfect state of repair, and needing no further expense. There has been a comprehensive program of works to provide for the needs of access for the handicapped, fire safety, acoustic, and heating insulation.
