My area covers Morbihan from Pontivy, south to Lorient, west towards Quimperle and east towards Auray and Vannes. The area has a rich diversity of property types and locations. From a coastal apartment with sea views, a rural longere with a few acres, or perhaps a large chateau nestled in its own woodland to a small easily managed property set in a town or hamlet. All this helps to make this part of France very attractive to not only first time buyers, retirees, those seeking an investment opportunity or those wishing to acquire a holiday home. The area also has an excellent selection of beautiful, easily accessible beaches. This makes the Gulf of Morbihan a popular destination for those who enjoy sailing and water sports. Further in land you can find a diversity of leisure pursuits from cycling and horse riding to rock climbing. The popular large towns of Lorient, Quimperle, Vanne and Auray have many historical links and also offer the usual selection of supermarkets, restaurants and shopping malls. However, there are also an abundance of colourful local markets offering the finest of Brittany fare including oysters and cider and other locally grown produce, not forgetting the cheese and wine! The climate is generally hot and sunny in the summer with mild winters. The road network is certainly excellent with toll free roads and easy access to all parts of Brittany. Travelling to the rest of Europe there are excellent connections via the Ferries located on the north coast of Brittany (less than 2 hour’s drive), TGV connections and airports at Brest, Lorient, Rennes and Nantes.
Some say that home is where the heart is............ My wife and I certainly found heart in our new home and are very happy having moved to this wonderful part of France. I used to own my UK based international business for many years and my wife worked in the private medical industry. We were very much caught up with working all the hours to pay ever increasing costs and in general, having to ‘battle’ our way through life, even supermarket queues or the ever increasing congestion problems on the UK’s extremely busy roads..... there must be an answer....there must be a better quality of life! We had visited southern Brittany many times before and so we decided to settle in our beautiful house with land, close to Lorient. I have travelled the world extensively throughout my career and we decided the region was excellent for all our own and family requirements. Practically the day we moved in to our property, we met some truly friendly people who just wanted to help us settle in. This has been reflected on so many occasions in various situations and we have been humbled by the warmth and understanding of the local people. It reminded me of how things used to be when I was growing up. The slower pace of life, the temperate climate and change of life style have certainly benefited us both. I speak French and am here to help you find your perfect home. So let me offer you a guiding hand through the process to find that property and quality of life you really want.View Brittany Information Homepage
