The Lot department, in the south west of France, lies in the north of the Midi-Pyrénées. It enjoys a delightfully warm climate and an extended summer. Foreign buyers and visitors have been increasingly drawn to the area in recent years thanks to its immense natural beauty, its wonderful gastronomy and improved accessibility, which has been helped by the opening of Brive airport. Cahors, the capital of the department, is well known for its sumptuous dark wines which are the perfect complement to the delicious duck and goose confits. It is also famous for its spectacular medieval architecture both in its buildings and in the wonderfully preserved bridges that cross its rivers – be sure to visit the famous Pont Valantre. During the summer months the calm rivers of the Lot and Dordogne which are wide and shallow are perfect for canoeing and kayaking, a great way to have fun and explore the region. There really is so much to see and do in this delightful part of France. Why not come and sample the delights of the region for yourself!
After a weekend in July 2007 visiting the Lot with friends, my wife and I found that we were enchanted with the area. After a very brief and easy discussion, we decided that we would look for a holiday home. A further visit in October that year and a very busy weekend resulted in finding our lovely house just outside the village of Cazals, a bastide village with a popular Sunday market. We visited every month for the next four years and then decided to take the plunge and moved here permanently in April 2012. The time was right to leave a life of commuting and working in the City and to enjoy all that France has to offer. I have always had a passion for property and the opportunity to join Leggett Immobilier allowed me to pursue my interest as well as helping people find their dream home in France.View Midi-Pyrenees Information Homepage
