About my area

The Charente region has a very pleasant climate with plenty of sunshine, which is much appreciated by humans - and grapes! Vineyards interspersed with picturesque villages make up the landscape here. The river Charente meanders its way through the lush countryside and offers locals and tourists a refreshing dip, a romantic picnic or an invigourating run along its banks. Kayaks and canoes can be rented to explore this beautiful country from a river perspective and the newly established 'flow vélo' routes are safe and well-maintained to enjoy on your (e-)bike. Those craving culture can head to Angoulème, the capital of the comic book, with its annual film festival and classic car race, while the town of Cognac offers pretty riverside dining and all you ever wanted to know about the famous local tipple. Life is good in the Charente, come and discover it!

About me

Originally from the Dutch island of Texel, I left the Netherlands in 1989 to work in the European Commission in Brussels. One of my jobs there was a 4-year diplomatic posting in Tbilisi, the capital of the ex-Soviet republic of Georgia, where my family and I witnessed the Russian invasion in August 2008. In 2012, my husband and I decided it was time to move on and we went to live in Oxfordshire for 9 years, where our children attended the European School in Culham. My post-EC career involved working as a tour guide at Blenheim Palace and as an interpreter/translator for the NHS. Having become 'empty-nesters' in 2021 and being the lucky owners of EU passports, when the opportunity arose to go and live in France we once again packed all our stuff and crossed the Channel. Leggett Immobilier International was already on my radar when we lived in England and I was happy to join the company as an independent estate agent.
