About my area

The Vendee is on the west coast of France. It has 140km of Atlantic coastline providing opportunities for all watersports enthusiasts and cyclists as the coastal terrain is flat.It is far enough south of the loire to offer warm temperatures and the coastal micro­climate gives a great comparative sunshine record. You can reach the UK comfortably within a day and the road, rail and air links are excellent. The airports and towns of La Rochelle, Nantes and Poitiers are within easy reach. Further inland the countryside is remeniscent of Dorset, it is roughly the same size as Devon but has only half the population. You can see why it is a popular holiday destination, The Vendee Globe round­the­world yacht race starts here. Puy de Fou historical theme park is situated here and was voted the worlds best in 2012, it has over 950km of marshland in an area known as Marais Poitevin and some beautiful forests and lakes. It has strong connections to the Kings of England and in particular Eleanor of Aquitaine, wife of Henry II.

About me

In 1997 we bought a holiday cottage in Vouvant, one of the prettiest villages in France, having been seduced by the place during many holidays in the Vendee.   We decided to move the family here permanently in 2004 and realised that the Vendee was right for us. It has much to offer and although mainly rural and village communities you do not feel isolated, We chose an old longere farmhouse for our permanent home in Foussais­Payré, 8kms from Vouvant. This we have renovated  and we have also converted 2 of the barns into gites. My partner is a builder of many years experience and we have together bought and renovated 5 other properties in the last 10 years.   I have always had a keen interest in the property market and feel that now is a good time to put my experience and local knowledge to good use and help you find the right property, supported of course by Leggett's and it's innovative approach. Should you need accommodation whilst you search the area or help with a building project I can help you there too. A one stop shop!
